For this painting I wanted to create a classic violet nightscape inspired by the countryside where I live. I painted the house in the foreground because I wanted you, the viewer, to be able to imagine yourself sat inside, warm and cosy next to the fire,
looking out of the window across the landscape at the crescent moon in the deep purple, night sky.
The colours in this piece are very deep and rich and change throughout the day depending on the light. The scene has lots of depth and atmosphere.
This is an oil painting on cradled wooden panel with the sides painted black so it is ready to hang without the need for a frame.
The painting measures 18 x 24 inches.
