These paintings find their origins in the many photographs I take whilst out in the Yorkshire countryside, capturing the magical stillness of the dormant plants and trees and the cool muted palette which prevails over the landscape.

Winter is the season of sparkling frost, spellbinding mist and an abundance of twisted branches and inky shadows.

In this series the candles, as always symbolise eternal hope, the warmth and comfort of home and the soft pale light of the winter sun.
