In this series, the candle is rendered using the finest pure oil pigments so the flame appears to glow from within, even in low light, gifting you the magic of a candle that never goes out.

The background is finished with fine metallic pigments to bring extra illumination.

Candles are very symbolic to many people. If you are someone who loves to light candles at home they can represent calm and relaxation or cosiness and warmth. For some they represent light and hope and for others they are often a symbol of remembrance.

I created these paintings in a smaller size so they can stay close, on a bedside table, a shelf, desk or a cosy corner.

The Medlar is a rare but not forgotten medieval tree which produces deep red fruit.
